Dave Ketchand
Associate Pastor
David joined the First Baptist Church, Lake Jackson staff on Easter Sunday of 2002. He is a native of Louisiana and his wife Phyllis is about as native a Texan as you can get. Her great great grandfather was a courier sent out from the Alamo to find Sam Houston and his army. Both David and Phyllis graduated from Northwestern State University of Louisiana in 1974 and David earned his Master of Religious Education Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth in 1980.
They have two married children. Aaron and his wife Mellissa live in Plano, Texas and Allison and her husband Jacob live in Louisville, Kentucky.
David has served Southern Baptist churches for the past 23 years in Texas, Pacific Northwest, Nevada, and Louisiana. "People everywhere have the same basic needs and wants. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has power to change lives and address these needs in a way nothing else can. This is one of the greatest evidences that Christianity is real and true."
In his leisure time, David enjoys outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, snow skiing, and traveling. He also has interests in history, geology, archeology, and geneology.
