Overview - 4Real Youth Ministry

In a world of relativity and confusion, the young people today need and desire a standard that can be depended upon. Our youth ministry is offering the uncompromised Standard, Jesus Christ, to students all across southern Brazoria county. We desire young people to come to know Christ intimately so that as they enter into adulthood, they know the truths of abiding in Him. We provide a place where students can learn, serve, play and lead for the cause of Christ.

Each department in our youth group meets the needs of young people. Our youth group is designed for students in grades 7th - 12th. Junior and senior high students are taught in a way that they can understand and in context with their age group. Each department consists of exciting, humorous and committed leaders who seek to show teenagers that they are a great part of our program and church. Bar none, our youth workers are as caring as they come. Their ministries are not an obligation, but instead an outflow of their love for students.

Our church is a church that loves teenagers. Our youth ministry is not an island at First Baptist Church, but instead a vital and connected ministry within the church. Each program in our ministry is designed to motivate youth through difficult areas of their lives while giving Christian direction and answers to guide their lives. Our ministry is very intentional around here - we want teenagers to have a real and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ!

To give you an idea of what we are about, we use an acronym from our name 4Real Youth Ministries (R-E-A-L). Please read below our goals and how we go about it.

We exist to develop students who:

Read and Respond to God's Word
Enjoy Church and Christian Fellowship
Acknowledge God in Prayer, Praise and Ministry
Lead Others to Christ

READ AND RESPOND TO GOD'S WORD (Discipleship Goal)
Students knowing the truth, knowing what they believe, knowing how to study the Bible, and exhibiting life-change is the goal of Sunday School efforts. We recognize that parents hold the primary responsibility in teaching their children about God, so we aim to partner with them by providing tools for the family and complimentary teaching in Bible fundamentals.

ENJOY CHURCH AND CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP (Fellowship Goa
l)
Whether it is a concert, lock-in, summer trip, or a Sunday School party, our fellowships are designed to help students connect with fellow believers and also offer potential outreach opportunities to those who don't know Christ. If our students enjoy church, they are more likely to mature in their faith under Godly mentorship and teaching.

ACKNOWLEDGE GOD IN PRAYER, PRAISE AND MINISTRY
(Worship and Service Goal)

Our students are directly involved in the areas of prayer and praise as they are entrusted with the responsibility of leading worship, leading prayer, reading scripture, greeting and drama in weekly services at FBC - the youth FUEL mid-week service and occasionally the corporate worship service on Sunday nights.

Students will experience meaningful and challenging mission trips each summer. Our mission trips are not for wimps! We truly seek to encourage and work just as Jesus did. We host mission endeavors that teach students the importance of living the life of a servant. We work to insure our youth ministry stays focused on missions and ministry.

From worship services to teaching responsibilities to service project, our students are mentored to be future leaders. Students at FBC are not allowed to become stinky, moldy sponges that simply soak up ministry around them. Instead we wring them out - encourage them to minister to others themselves! They are mentored to give of themselves and become a vital part of the ministries at FBC.

LEAD OTHERS TO CHRIST (Evangelism Goal)
Our weekly youth worship service, FUEL is on Wednesday nights 6:15-7:45 p.m.. It's a great non-threatening place for students to bring their friends. Complete with crazy games, pizza, funny videos, live student-led worship and a powerful Bible study presented by the youth pastor, this is the place to hear the gospel preached!

Our students are taught the importance of relational evangelism and are challenged regularly to be bold in their faith. We want to see students come to Jesus...and then go tell others about Him!
