Free Wednesday Night Instructional Classes
Starts September 10, but you can join any time!!!
 
What: Free 10-week Instructional Classes beginning September 10, 2014 and running through November 19.
 
When: Wednesdays September 10 thru November 19, 6:15-7:15 p.m.
           
Where: Classes will be on the FBCLJ campus, 401 Yaupon St., unless otherwise noted. When you arrive, look for welcome tents outside the church. Class offerings below will indicate the location.
 
Who Teaches: These classes will be taught by members and non-members of FBCLJ who excel in the particular class subject. Community leaders and professionals will be leading us.
 
Who Attends: The classes are primarily intended for adults and teens. However, there will be childcare for newborn-2 year olds, Mission Friends for 3 years to K, Bait Camp for 1-6 grade. We also offer The Anchor teen worship service at the same hour. Bring the whole family!


Other: There is a family meal served 5:00-6:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center Gym. Adult meal is $5, child meal is $3. Click here to make a one-time or standing reservation.
 

Proposed 2014 Class Offerings:
Unless otherwise noted , classes meet on Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m. at First Baptist Church and are free to the public. Specific classroom locations TBA. See you then!

Marriage Matters - A class that discusses some of the important MATTERS of marriage and seeks to understand why marriage MATTERS.

Location: 2nd Floor Young Couples Classroom (B2103)
Instructor: Pastor Chad Alexander

Bold Parenting - A class to empower parents to take bold steps in raising their children in an increasingly precarious culture.
Location: 2nd Floor Singles Classroom (B2102)
Instructor: Upward League Director and former youth pastor, Brad Dawson

Divorce Care - A divorce recovery support group where you can find help and healing for the hurt of separation and divorce A KidShare partner ministry is offered at the same time in an adjacent classroom for kids in grades 1-6. Please specify at registration the name and age of children attending KidShare. (will meet 6:15-8:15 p.m. for 13 weeks; class limit of 20; first come first serve)
Location: 2nd Floor C-Wing Classroom (C2209) and Kidshare in 2nd Floor C-Wing Classroom (C-2213)

Cooking 101 - A class that teaches basic cooking skills. (CLASS IS FULL!)
Location: 2nd Floor Kitchen with Sikes/Lamoureux Sunday School Classes (B2305 & B2307)
Instructors: Bobbie Kidwell and Jan Ward

Garden to Pantry Canning - A class that teaches the basics of canning and food processing for vegetables, fruits and more! Have fun making & SAMPLING salsa, Ro-tel, jams, fire crackers, pan sausage, & more. Students will be given samples to share at the end of the semester. (will meet 6:30-7:30 p.m.)

Financial Peace University (Class is full) - A class designed to help you live debt free. (class limit of 10 couples; first come first serve)
Location: 2nd Floor Sunday School Classroom (A2114)
Facilitator: Ken Huff

Photography Made Easy - A class that teaches you how to take fantastic pictures and how to use a camera.
Location: 2nd Floor C-Wing Classroom (C-2218)
Instructor: Photographer, Vincent Herrera

CPR, Health and Safety - A class that equips you with emergency, life-saving CPR skills & safety and health techniques. A certification in CPR is possible.
Location: 2nd Floor C-Wing Classroom (C-2216)
Instructor: Fred Ortiz and other LJ EMS instructors

Intro to Basic Computing (Class is full) - A class that teaches the fundamentals of how to operate a computer. (class limit of 10; first come first serve)
Location: FBCLJ Kool Club Computer Lab
Instructors: Jim Huffines and Susan Tucker

Ballet for Life! - A class that teaches basic ballet lessons for young and old alike. Designed for teen and adult women. All ages are encouraged to participate!
Location: 1st Floor A-Wing Classroom (A1203)

General Bible Study - A prayer meeting and general Bible study taught by former FBCLJ pastor, D.O. Foster.
Location: FLC Gym Parlor
Teacher: Former FBCLJ Pastor, D.O. Foster

Developing Women Mentors - A class that encourages the Titus 2:4 biblical principle of women sharing life with other women. The class will teach practical how-tos of disciple-making & mentoring, and participants will become more comfortable discipling other women. There will also be opportunities to be matched with someone who wants to be discipled. (Meets Wednesdays from 4:00-5:00 p.m.)

International Friends - A class for men and women offering Second Language (ESL) and literacy (reading and writing). (meets Thursdays from 9:00 a.m till 11:30 a.m; BEGINS SEPTEMBER 4)
Location: 1st Floor A-Wing Classrooms (A1203)
Instructors: Team Teach

Grief Share (very limited space) - A grief recovery support group where you can find help and healing for the hurt of losing a loved one.
Location: 1st Floor C-Wing Classroom (C-1139)
