Free Wednesday Night Instructional Classes
Our New Semester begins January 14, 2015.

It's not too late to join a class!
 
What: Free 10-week Instructional Classes beginning January 14 and running through March 25 (skip Spring Break).
 
When: Wednesdays beginning January 14, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
           
Where: Classes will be on the FBCLJ campus, 401 Yaupon St., unless otherwise noted. When you arrive, look for welcome tents outside the church. Class offerings below will indicate the location.
 
Who Teaches: These classes will be taught by members and non-members of FBCLJ who excel in the particular class subject. Community leaders and professionals will be leading us.
 
Who Attends: The classes are primarily intended for adults and teens. However, there will be childcare for newborn-2 year olds, Mission Friends for 3 years to K, Bait Camp for 1-6 grade. We also offer The Anchor teen worship service at the same hour. Bring the whole family!


Other: There is a family meal served 5:00-6:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center Gym. Adult meal is $5, child meal is $3. Click here to make a one-time or standing reservation.
 

Tentative Proposed 2015 Class Offerings:
Unless otherwise noted , classes meet on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church and are free to the public. Specific classroom locations TBA. See you then!


Basketball for Men - Open court for all adult men who would like to enjoy rec basketball. Devotionals will be hosted during a "half-time". This time is meant to be similar to our Upward basketball practice format that we host for children.

Men's Bible Study - Spiritual Leadership - Attention all men...Are you the leader of your family, a department at work, a ministry in the church, an organization in the community, an athletic team your child plays on, etc.?  If you are a leader or desire one day to lead others in any capacity, you won’t want to miss the Men’s Bible Study class this spring on Spiritual Leadership designed specifically for men who desire to bring glory to God as they lead others.

Women's Bible Study - Breathe - Attention all women...For the weary, worn out, and exhausted, or for anyone who wants to learn how to create margin in their life and have room to breathe . . . this study could be life changing as you have the chance to acknowledge bondage to busyness and excess.  Ladies you won’t want to miss this class entitled “Breathe . . . Making Room For The Sabbath” video taught by Priscilla Shirer (daughter of Tony Evans) and facilitated by Kelly Alexander.

Home Improvement 101 - Class that teaches the basics of home improvement including how to use certain tools. Tips and resources will be shared in a workshop environment.

Pinterest Workshop -
CLASS IF FULL. Love looking at Pinterest online but scared to try projects yourself? Join us to try one project a week! Gain confidence in techniques needed for success while making items for your home, family and friends.

Divorce Care - A divorce recovery support group where you can find help and healing for the hurt of separation and divorce A KidShare partner ministry is offered at the same time in an adjacent classroom for kids in grades 1-6. Please specify at registration the name and age of children attending KidShare. (will meet 6:30-8:30 p.m. for 13 weeks; class limit of 20; first come first serve)

Cooking 101 - A class that teaches basic cooking skills.
Location: 2nd Floor Kitchen with Sikes/Lamoureux Sunday School Classes (B2305 & B2307)

Financial Peace University - A class designed to help you live debt free. (class limit of 10 couples; individuals also welcome; first come first serve)

Intro to Basic Computing (3:30 p.m. class) - A class that teaches the fundamentals of how to operate a computer. (class limit of 10; class will be held at 3:30-5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays)
Location: FBCLJ Kool Club Computer Lab
Instructors: Jim Huffines, Susan Tucker & George Kidwell

Developing Women Mentors - A class that encourages the Titus 2:4 biblical principle of women sharing life with other women. The class will teach practical how-tos of disciple-making & mentoring, and participants will become more comfortable discipling other women. There will also be opportunities to be matched with someone who wants to be discipled.

Grief Share - A grief recovery support group where you can find help and healing for the hurt of losing a loved one. (6:30 p.m. till 8:00 p.m.)
Location: 1st Floor C-Wing Classroom (C-1139)

International Friends - A class for men and women offering Second Language (ESL) and literacy (reading and writing). (meets Thursdays from 9:00 a.m till 11:30 a.m)
Location: 1st Floor A-Wing Classrooms (A1203)
