Dr. John A. Hatch
Pastor
John A. Hatch has served as pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson, Texas since April, 1982. He began his pastoral ministry in August, 1966. He served three churches before coming to Lake Jackson: First Baptist Church of Lakewood, Washington; Trinity Baptist Church, Fort Worth, Texas and Terrace Hills Baptist Church, Longview, Texas.
John is married to Alice Sims of Dallas, Texas. They are the proud parents of three beautiful daughters, all of whom are married. God has blessed them with four adorable grandchildren. John loves spending time with his family, especially his lovely wife, Alice. He says, “Alice is a crown on my head and a queen in our home and, best of all, she is subject to the Lord.”
John graduated from East Texas Baptist College in 1967 with a B.A. degree in Sociology. He holds two degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, a Master’s of Divinity degree, conferred in 1975 and a Doctor of Ministry degree, conferred in 1977.
John loves to preach. He identifies with the sentiment expressed by G. Campbell Morgan, “I enjoy preaching so much, if I couldn’t do it as a vocation, I’d do it as a recreation.”
John says, “I serve the best church in the country. FBC Lake Jackson has a great mission heart. Since 1990 more than 150 of our members have taken 71 mission trips to 22 different countries. The church consistently ranks among the top mission giving churches in the entire Southern Baptist Convention...”
John’s hobbies are fishing, golfing and computers.
