Welcome to the Music and Worship Ministry of First Baptist Church Lake Jackson. Psalm 98:4 says, "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise." If you are a singer or play an instrument, there is a place where you can serve the Lord with your talent.
The following is a listing of the different ministry groups currently available and a brief description.
FBCLJ’s Celebration Choir is an exciting fellowship of believers who love to lift up the Lord Jesus through singing. Celebration Choir members are lead worshipers in FBCLJ’s Sunday morning worship services and occasionally on Sunday evenings for special seasonal productions, and special events. The choir is open to everyone from ages 18 and up. No audition is necessary to join this group. Celebration Choir rehearses Wednesday evenings from 6:15 p.m.—7:45 p.m. in the Worship Center.
Heart’s Cry is an adult vocal ensemble selected from the Celebration Choir consisting of 6 adults. It is an auditioned group that leads out on Sunday mornings and Sunday nights. Heart's Cry meets on Wednesdays from 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. in the Choir Suite. For more information, contact the Music & Worship Office.
Singin’ Saints is a choir especially for our senior adults of our community in and around Lake Jackson. We are an open group available to any senior adult who has a desire to be a part of a fellowship. Our group plans to enjoy lunch fellowship together and rehearsals weekly. Join us every Wednesday from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. in room C1118. For more information about Singin’ Saints, please contact the Music & Worship Office.
INSTRUMENTAL GROUPS
The Celebration Orchestra serves as instrumentalists in our Sunday morning services. The Celebration Orchestra accompanies the Celebration Choir, supports congregational singing, and occasionally leads in worship by playing stand alone musical selections. Celebration Orchestra is an open group. An above average level of proficiency on an instrument is desired. Rehearsals are 2 or 3 Sunday afternoons prior to performance. Celebration Orchestra meets in the Choir Suite.
Every Wednesday evening, 4Real Youth meet at 6:30 p.m. for FUEL. The youth have a praise and worship band made up of students from the youth group. For more information, please contact the music office.
Resounding Praise Handbell Choir rehearses on Monday evenings, starting at 6:15 p.m.-7:15 p.m. in the Choir Suite. Resounding Praise performs at least once a month, for special worship services, and on holidays. No audition is required to join this group. CHILDREN'S VOCAL GROUPS
Extreme Praise is a power packed hour of singing and learning. Get ready to move and learn more about music and worship in this exciting program. Extreme Praise meets in room A2119 on Sunday evenings from 4:45 p.m.—5:45 p.m. For more information, please contact the music office.
Joyful Praise is the name of our 1st through 3rd grade choir here at FBCLJ. The joy of the Lord is our strength as we lift up our voices in praise to God. As a part of Joyful Praise, students will continue to develop musical skills to strengthen them as musicians and worshipers. Joyful Praise meets in room A2101 on Sunday evenings from 4:45 p.m.—5:45 p.m. For more information, please contact the music office.
Basic Praise is our beginning choir for children ages 4 and 5 years old. Children learn the fundamentals of singing and principals of worship that they will take with them for a lifetime. Basic Praise meets in room B1102 on Sunday evenings from 4:45 p.m.—5:45 p.m. For more information, please contact the music office.
