Operation Christmas Child. Deadline for returning shoe boxes is Sunday, Nov. 16. Instructions, forms & labels for packing your shoe box are available at the welcome center. A small shoebox can teach a child about the love of God, lead him or her to faith in Christ, inspire pastors, and plant new churches. What goes into the box is fun, but what comes out is eternal. Be a part of changing lives through the power of a simple gift.
Thanksgiving Meal. Tickets are available at the Welcome Center through Nov. 19. There is no charge for the tickets this year, however, one is required for admittance. This will help us know how much meat to prepare. We are asking our church family to bring their favorite Thanksgiving side dishes and desserts to share with one another. More details soon.
Thanksgiving Baskets. The Holidays are just around the corner and it is time to think about our Thanksgiving Baskets. These baskets are intended for families who would otherwise not have a substantial meal for Thanksgiving. Please contact the church office by Nov. 17 if you would like to recommend someone to receive one of these baskets. Baskets are available only through church member recommendation. You will be responsible for delivering your basket(s) to the individual(s)/family(ies) you recommend. You may drop off food donations at the Welcome Center. Items needed include: flour, sugar, pasta, rice, beans, canned goods and more. See display ad for more information.
Part-time Kitchen Position. Please contact the church office if you are interested in a part-time position working in our kitchen on Wednesdays.
Serve U “Fixer Upper” Team. Our brand new Serve U team is now functioning and awaiting small home maintenenace projects from those in our church and community who otherwise could not afford the work. Please contact Brad Dawson or Billy Shepard with inquiries. Here are the general guidelines:
· No more than 6 hours to complete a project.
· Most projects conducted on Friday evenings and/or Saturday mornings.
· The team will not accept more than 2 projects a month, so a waiting list may be instituted.
· Small projects only that may be subject to a project budget that will be determined by team.
· No home improvement/remodeling projects, only maintenance or repair.
Our dear sister, Donna Cheever, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 18. The family has included the FBC Music Ministry in their suggested areas for people to give memorial gifts. Our plan is to purchase a set of tone chimes in Donna’s memory that will provide a wonderful tool for ministry for both the handbell choir and the children’s music ministry. These instruments are perfect for teaching handbell techniques to children, and to provide a wonderful variation on traditional handbell music. Please consider your contribution to our goal of memorializing the love Donna had for our worship and children’s ministries over the past 47 years!
Help needed! Our television and media ministries help us communicate the Word with our congregation, our community, and the world. We have filled some of our open positions, but still have a need for a sound operator and a remote camera operator. If you have any experience, or would like more information about what these ministry areas entail, please contact Bro. Ronnie (cell: 979.373.7301) or Jim Huffines (979.236.4177).
