SENSITIVE TOPIC TODAY.  Please be aware that the topic of Human Trafficking, a very sensitive and mature issue, will be the focus of today’s message.  Before the message begins, parents will be given the opportunity to send their children/youth to the 3rd floor youth area for a separate time of Bible study due to the sensitivity of this issue.   

Beach Baptism. The next opportunity to publicly declare your faith in Jesus Christ through baptism will be on Sunday evening, August 17th at our annual Beach Fellowship and Baptism at Quintana Beach County Park. Please contact the pastor if you would like to be baptized at our annual beach fellowship. 

Churchwide Potluck.  We will enjoy a churchwide potluck dinner on Monday, Aug. 11, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 2nd Floor B2305/7 and B-2103 to fellowship and hear the ministry of Reksa and Channa Mey, IMB missionaries to Thailand who are currently staying in the missionary house.
Childcare Staff Positions Open.  We currently have openings in the childcare department for paid nursery attendants.  Please contact the church office for more information.

Business Meeting.  Sunday, August 24, 7:00 p.m., Worship Center. 
Worship Leadership.  If you have an interest in helping lead worship with any of our Celebration groups (choir, orchestra, or praise band), please contact Bro. Ronnie.  There are openings for most any instrument or vocalist.  The choir is now coming down from the loft after the music portion of our worship service to facilitate involvement for families with children. Childcare is also available during rehearsals.  Call the church office or Bro. Ronnie at 979.373.7301 for more info!
Handbells will be starting up again soon. An introductory class on handbell technique, music notation, and general “how to play handbells” will be offered in August. Please call Bro. Ronnie for details and requirements for becoming a ding-a-ling!
Coaches Needed. We need coaches and assistant coaches in both flag football and cheer. Please consider making a difference in our community! Visit to find out more about being a coach in Upward and let Brad know if you are interested.

What: Free 10-week instructional classes beginning September 10, 2014 and running through November. Each class is one hour long each week.  “How To” classes as well as interest groups and forums will be offered. An optional, economical $3 meal will be served prior to the classes in our gym.
When: September 10 thru November during the 6:15-7:15 timeframe. Adult choir rehearsal will follow. A meal will be served from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in our gym.
Where: Most classes will be on the FBCLJ campus, but some classes may require additional resources or a different environment not found here on campus.
Official class offerings on our registration page will indicate the location.
How: Class offerings and registration will be available beginning August 10.
Who Teaches: These classes will be taught by members and non-members of FBCLJ who excel in the particular class subject. Community leaders and professionals will be leading us.
Who Attends: The classes are primarily intended for adults and teens unless otherwise indicated. However, there will be childcare for K and younger and there will be corresponding activities to choose from for kids in grades 1-6. The Anchor youth services will also be available for teens.
How much: Registration for classes is free.
Serve U will offer a limited number of pre-defined mission projects each semester available to anyone who wants to get outside the walls of the church to participate in hands-on mission activities. Participants will register at or in Sunday School classes beginning September 10. Projects for Fall 2014 will be listed online soon.
